What's your take on the tit for tat redistricting. This is exactly the approach (do not initiate but retaliate in lockstep) that should have been taken decades ago, I think, and it's vastly better than what others have done. Not to give one Governor credit for a state action but he did move this.

No I agree the tit for tat should have happened back then, and now significantly greater remedial measures are needed because the aims of the civil rights act and voting rights act have been harmed by concerted hostile action by the states.
Democrats can't take those actions now; they should plan them in depth and detail while states do what they can at their level.

It's hard. Wean people off the idea that any media will present an unbiased opinion. Verify facts when possible, don't fall for the emotional grab or fear tactics. Advertising is a huge part of the problem. Campaigns use ads to hit emotional buttons. The GOP relied on anger as a selling point.
The redistricting is fundamentally anti-Democratic. It's only necessary because we've shed any veneer of Democracy we had left, but like this still fucking sucks and shouldn't be necessary to do in a functional society.
When the only thing Democrats can do to resist is consolidate and cement their own power, I can't say that gives me hope for resisting fascism especially when Newsom agrees with the fascists on whether I deserve to exist or not.
Our two options are 1- find a way to overthrow this regime within the bounds of our traditional law, or 2- find a way to overthrow this regime outside the bounds of our traditional law. It's probably good that we're at least trying option 1 before we resort to option 2.

Newsome is doing what is needed now. 2026 comes first, get Dems in the congress and as many state governments as possible. The more progressive the better. Start looking for people you think will answer your needs. Get their names out. Don't wait for someone to save you.
