By a narrow margin. Plenty of people fell for the 'vote brexit and things will improve' line but have since changed their minds. Also, that was 9 years ago. Demographics change. The % in favour of Independence has skyrocketed since covid lockdown when Westminster flailed and Cardiff led

So how are we different to England then, in terms of rejoining the EU? The only thing you've pointed to is that we had different rules during covid times. That has nothing to do with our views towards Europe.

I didn't say England wouldn't rejoin the EU, I don't know enough about what's happening over there (apart from the slide towards fascism.) But I do think it's far more likely that the UK will dissolve into its constituent countries rather than rejoining the EU in its current form.

Not to be pedantic but your post only makes sense if England and NI were to remain 'the UK', following Welsh and Scottish independence. In any event you may be correct that the most likely way in is as separate countries, in which case safe to say it's probably never going to happen.

I think that's your interpretation -which is valid, plenty can be lost when it's just words on a screen. I mentioned Wales because I live there and I've watched the indy movement take off since 2019, and Scotland already has its bags packed. The possibility of a united Ireland is not my field

Interestingly, polling on Scottish independence hasn't moved much since the previous referendum. Then there are the widespread SNP losses at the last GE. I'd be interested to know how you conclude Scotland "already has its bags packed"? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion...

Just remember that Michael Gove's government commissioned a poll on Scottish voting intentions. A poll he refused to release despite the courts order, had the pro independence at 73%

Do you have a link to that story? I've never heard of it and can find no trace.

If the government refused to release their polling, how do you know it had 'yes' at 73%?

The more important question is what were they scared of by not releasing the poll despite a court order? 73%is mentioned in a couple of articles and the lack of engagement or response from the Westminster government tells its own story.

Worth noting: polls still weight results to match the 2014 indyref outcome. That artificially drags Yes down. The raw, unweighted numbers consistently show support for independence several points higher than what’s reported.
