Yeah, in terms of pure "is the mystery reveal rewarding" Gravity Falls is among the best - although it does roll out the fact that it's a mystery box show pretty slowly at first.

GF is a good example bc it seems to be a nice mix of pre-planned and off-the-cuff in its long-term mysteries. So the identity of the author looks planned (and if not it's impressive bc it ties so well in with the characters & themes), Bill's involvement looks improvised but works quite well
