that there's no way you can draw the circle so that only the stuff it gets wrong goes on the outside. And anyone who tries to pin you down to one of these bad things and explain why it's your fault for doing it wrong is deliberately ignoring the way these bad things go together.
Chris (@kodiak.app) reply parent
It's bad that it gets trivial stuff wrong, and it's ALSO bad that the big value add of "sometimes it summarizes information from multiple sources in a useful way" ALSO gets stuff wrong, and the most bad thing of all is..

The ultra-pasteurized stuff generally goes bad on day 6 or so after you open it. If I buy milk that's not ultra-pasteurized, anything that's left four days after opening is going down the drain. Also you lose about a day keeping it on the door where it's 5-10⁰F warmer than the rest of the fridge.

It is EXTREMELY normal to do that; so normal in fact that OSHA has a whole bucket of regulations telling you that many ways you're not allowed to do it. But if any white house was going to ignore OSHA, it would be this one.

I wonder if it comes from the same place as "if I wear a seatbelt, then I won't be thrown safely clear of the crash" and "motorcycle helmets make me less safe because they obstruct my view" - a fetishistic devotion to maintaining the bare illusion of control, even when it actually reduces safety.
