If you're confident that there's nothing earlier than 1970, there's only a very few titles that would be worth more than $100 if they're in that condition. If you're the sort of person that could take joy in the fact that someone ELSE made a thousand dollars finding something...
extremely rare in your collection that you didn't have any interest in, then just putting it out there is a totally fine way to handle it. If that would fill you with regret, then it's worth doing some investigation.
Back in the day, it was very easy to go to a local comic store with a giant box and say "is there anything good in here?" (In my case, there never was.) I don't know if that's still the case, though.
