I think donkey kong bananza accidentally got twice as much time for their dev cycle since the tech couldn't run on the switch 1, so they had to wait for the switch 2, which took a while. almost 8 years for a platformer game is crazy

Something something miyamoto quote
yeah i was really surprised when i heard it was supposed to be a switch 1 game originally cause there are definitely some spots where it struggles hard even on switch 2
I would expect a small part of the team helped bring 3D World to Switch on the side and gave some assistance to NST making Bowser's Fury. But yes, that is a while especially for a well-versed platformer team. In the end, they cooked that steak TENDER.
So you're saying DK bonanza 2 next year? π
If I had to, I'd guess that the team is back on mario now
Now you got me thinking about voxel blocks in 3d Mario. Remember the levels from Super Mario world where you would spin jump to "dig" down?
Thinking of wario land, minecraft , crash bandicoot, sonic (rolling to βdrillβ through stuff), antonblast, and now this, that level may have been more influential than we thought!
dig dug was like a decade before any of those
Still illustrates how digging and destruction will be eternally satisfying in video games to some capacity
More likely that means the next 3d Mario has been in the works for 3 years already
