How does the contribution work? Like I said, historic recordings would be super helpful.

Just for kicks, here’s my collection. My numbers got a pretty big boost when I picked up pretty much every CSX detector between Washington, DC and Pittsburgh last November on the final run of the Capitol Limited. I’m trying to fill in gaps back home in Michigan as I can, but it’s proven difficult.
Replacing place names with bland mileposts caused me to generally lose interest in collecting recordings 😅, but I am glad others do so.
The position that I take with, this is the same one. I’ve always taken with photos and to a degree videos: nothing lasts forever, and you should document it, even if it bores the shit out of you or doesn’t really interest you.
It’s very easy. Check these photos. The detector I picked as an example is the one closest to my hometown in MI. Somewhere on one of my old 8 mm tapes, I have some audio of this CMA02-D that I grew up listening to. Just need to go to my dad‘s and watch the tapes to find it.
@prrsignal.bsky.social here’s one more example that you might appreciate.
So they do support historic recordings. I need to figure out where they are.
Something tells me they’re going to love you. They really want more historic recordings than new recordings. That’s something that I am tragically not really able to help them with other than potentially having the old Okemos, MI detector, I mentioned.
I got on the scene too late to grab most historic recordings of interest. I only have a few here or there.
