I didn’t start really seeing myself in stories until my 30’s, which is a big contributing factor to me not realizing I was disabled until my mid 20s and not coming out as queer and non-binary until my 30s! Now my daughter gets to read children’s books with disabled protagonists and queer families 🥹

Yessss! Also I am so in favour of neurodivergent people identifying neurodivergent traits in fiction where it isn’t canonized. If Lorelai Gilmore or Anne Shirley had been canon ADHD I would have been diagnosed much earlier than 36 😂
