Well intentioned idiots made that call. I worked security for a number of years prior to teaching. Threats of violence cause escalation. My state allows concealed carry in school. That would be a complete recipe for disaster. We need to act to prevent shootings, not acclimate.
I’m a retired educator and that issue came up and was well supported in my state. Thank goodness our director of schools said No to teachers or staff carrying a firearm! I agree totally … a disaster waiting to happen on so many levels!!
I've been told it's inappropriate to comment on political things when I say it's my job to educate my students not police them. Statistically speaking if you have a shooter they were likely a student at your school. I couldn't shoot one of my students.
