I have many thoughts about this list of books but for now I’ll just say contact your MLA, the premier, the minister of education and your school trustee if you are also mad.

Lists like these are lately copied and pasted from American lists with little rhyme or reason (but often surrounding LGBTQIA2S+ characters or anti Christian themes.)

I was really surprised by the number of adult fiction titles on this list. Perhaps if the government fully funded professional librarians, this would solve the problem without a draconian book ban?

"The Diviners"? 50 years ago this fall, my Grade 11 English teacher at Paul Kane HS in St. Albert introduced Margaret Laurence to me and my classmates with that (now-classic) Prairie novel. Has it really been that long? 🤔 Let's say it wasn't controversial then and shouldn't be now. Unbelievable.
