That makes me sad. It’s a cheap shot. I firmly believe that ‘othering’ those lost to extremism makes it harder for us to rescue those who are not yet lost to it. We should show empathy. For anyone ready to jump in, we can refuse to tolerate behaviour and attitudes whilst still showing empathy.

It's worse than that, even. These sorts of dismissive, pithy comments cast entire regions of America as beyond redemption. They ignore all of the people in "red" states who do good things on big & small scales. Pa Kent is peak positive masculinity and shouldn't be hated because of where he lives.

Forgot to add, my grandmother married a Texan and he was the kindest most tolerant and patient man I ever met. Not in that stereotype at all

Agreed! With the most specious analysis of Pa Kent, he raised an adopted child with such love and care that he grew up to be the ultimate lawful good boyscout!
