Our health and education systems are entirely held together by people who do significantly more work than they are paid for in significantly less time than is reasonable. Things are rushed and so done poorly or not done at all. Who gets the blame? Those staff. This has been the way for far too long.
Most SLT #teachers often only speciously analyse data. They’ve all had training, but they all have something in common. They’ve had that training on the job, as adults. So I wonder, is there a real difference in virtuosity at such a skill depending upon when in your development you learnt it?
No time in my office or classroom over the previous 3 days. 80 emails to get through once I do. Email 35 tells me where I should be right now. “Why weren’t you where you should be?” Exasperating!
Leaders in #school tend to avoid sending action minutes. I have worked out that this is because they would see how much they’re asking us to do if it was all in one place like that.
Can we change “no one got hurt” to “No one was PHYSICALLY hurt?”.
“Make a seating plan for each class, fully annotated with details like SEND and PP data for each child.” “Where should I keep it?” “In your classroom” “Can I have a lockable cupboard to keep it secure?” “No”
Been told to not lock classroom computer so next teacher can use it… What does GDPR have to say about this? How avoues the parents?
3 days of “sit still and listen” style training that me told if I got the kids to just “sit still and listen” I’d be in deep trouble because it doesn’t teach them. Now been given 5 hours of videos to “sit still and listen” to by 17th. Also been given a full schedule between now and then. #teach
#Teachers when I was working retail, I was given time to read policy documents. In teaching, you’re expected to find the time yourself. Don’t. Challenge SLT. Let them know you can’t “find the time” and make them help you find it. Make them tell you to work outside of reasonable hours.
Huge wad of documents that is more than 500 pages to sign and say I’ve read. Five hours of videos to watch and sign to say I’ve watched. Again, no one will answer the question “when?” as they know it then becomes either “directed time” or is technically harassment due to unreasonable workload.
Looking at the documents I’ve been told to read and answer a quiz on by Monday. 5 documents amounting to over 200 pages. Every minute of work time between now and then has been scheduled for me to do something else. No one will answer the question of when I’m supposed to do this.
Anyone in the UK who has #INSET today because you #teach, please let me see those posts about how awful it is. I need the company in my misery!
You’ve heard of “white saviour complex”? Today is this trope but with the disabled and poor being those getting “saved”. As a disabled person who was poor growing up, I won’t be represented today. To keep my job I’ll have to smile and clap along.
#inset shouldn’t be two days of “sit still and listen” that doesn’t leave you prepared to teach. It’s ableist and bad teaching. Got a 3rd day and can’t sleep due to the dread. It’ll be worse as half the day is a self aggrandising awards ceremony for the privileged.

Very strange! I search a system, it is tracked to and automatically selects “discover powerplay” which I have to remember to deselect before I can select the system. Every time!
I can’t articulate how infuriating it is to have the “discover powerplay” option be chosen by accident every time I try to select a new system in #elitedangerous. I tried #powerplay and don’t like it!
Ive become obsessed with this. Looking through IMDb user review graphs, any movie or series which is supposedly “woke” has an anomaly in its graphic. Try it yourself. Compare graphs for actually bad movies with “woke” ones.
Average ratings for movies etc have become meaningless due to review bombing. Case in point, Howard the duck got a standard distribution around 5/10 on IMDb. The acolyte got a flat graph with a peak at 1. Don’t trust scores without a standard distribution!

My parents spanked me and then some. I have a PhD and all sorts of other amazing achievements. Yet I don’t speak to my parents and have deeply entrenched trauma with related responses at almost 50 years of age. I know that spanking is responsible for some of these things. It ain’t the good ones.

That makes me sad. It’s a cheap shot. I firmly believe that ‘othering’ those lost to extremism makes it harder for us to rescue those who are not yet lost to it. We should show empathy. For anyone ready to jump in, we can refuse to tolerate behaviour and attitudes whilst still showing empathy.
Social media has allowed people to think their awful opinions count as much as experts’ ones. A person’s medical information is private and the system for deciding who gets benefits is not known by people who say stuff like this.

As a teacher, we provide support for children with ADHD. When I ask for those same accommodations as an adult with ADHD I literally get treated like I’m a child! Its infuriating. I don’t give that specific support because they’re children, but because they have ADHD, they’re not synonymous!
