I think by now people, including russians, should understand thst russian economy is doomed and that the war is lost. Not in a month or two, but in a year russian economy is toast(ed).

It's even worse than it looks. They are borrowing money via bonds at 17% interest. They have a worker shortage of 5 million men and by 2025 10 million more Russians retire. The median age in Russia is like 45. By 2075 their population will likely be under 120 million. They are Fing doomed.

Sorry, not 2025, I meant 2035 that 10 million more Russians retire. Then factor in that 1 out of every 100 Russians have HIV and infection rates in the Russian military have gone up 2,000% since the war. They are in bad bad bad shape. I expect them to cave and ask for a ceasefire on current lines.

If the war ends the economy will collapse. Everyone is holding high interest debt including the state, people, and arms companies. Without those high paying jobs they can't pay off debts, the banks will eat it. For every 1 billion Putin borrows at 17% he has to pay back 2.7 billion in 10 years.

Agreed. They can’t end the war. Ceasefire maybe and continue aggressive war footing and subjugation of people. N Korea 2.0. But even then I doubt they can hold hundreds of 1000s of troops on the front doing nothing. It’s not an army that can sit on its arse- it will turn on itself

It will likely turn into a rebuilding, de-mining, and fortification effort in occupied territory using Russian troops. They will likely be gradually drawn down from the rear areas first to prevent an overall economic shock. They will try and get sanctions dropped to relieve economic problems.

Hopefully if there is any ceasefire there will be an uptick in ‘partisan’ activities. No rest or quarter should be granted to 🇷🇺. They should be treated how they treat ceasefires - with their own brand of peace and goodwill

Yes. The defense companies need money to produce weapons etc because they only get paid after the product is finished. So they are borrowing money at high interest rates to produce. Arms companies combined hold over 500 billion in debt. The debt payments are so high they struggle to profit.

I didn't see that defense industry workers were unpaid. I saw space industry workers in a company linked to roscosmos had not been paid.
