I learned decades ago how best to handle a bully. The second best is to loudly get in their face, which usually works. The absolute best way should always be the last resort, but should never be taken off the table. Appeasement NEVER works.

I punched my first bully in the face and bloodied his nose. And he stopped being a bully for the rest of the time that I knew him. And his sycophants stopped following him. Because he was weak. (What a metaphor for the time we live in). I assume that was your “first position.”

Oopsie, I thought the first position was a little more that a punch. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The second bully I encountered was my manager at a multi-billion dollar company. Him, I documented every encounter, every wrong-doing, every failure. And I took my stack of paper to HR and told them to fix it or I would sue. It took them 6 months but they transferred me out from under him.

And he got to retire on his full pension with no admittance of wrongdoing. But he lost me as his whipping boy. And that made me happy and it made him unhappy, which made me even happier. Fuck you, CK, you narcissistic sociopath.

It is difficult to loudly get in someone’s face at 5’0. I can loudly get in someone’s chest? Now, if it’s a woman, I can handle my business. The man here is probably a solid 18” taller than me — and absurdly more powerful. Abuse of power with brute strength is repulsive. They needed help.

Point taken. I do have a bit of an advantage- I've been 6'2" since I was 16, and know how to both look angry and use the mechanical leverage I have.

This is what “recognizing your privilege” means. Don’t tell others to do what works for you on the internet. Not everyone is a 6’2” white man that cops will assume is on their side until you actively dissent.
