Many of the best Goth clubs I’ve been to were in the worst neighborhoods. I met active duty Army who were afraid of S Capitol in the Tracks days. I’d walk through there alone, in full Goth drag, three nights a week. The Cincy Goth club was in OTR when OTR genuinely looked like the movie Traffic.
A tiny venue where I saw the Birthday Massacre was not on the wrong side of the tracks. It was practically on the tracks of our light rail system.
Our Tracks was built over a metro tunnel. IIRC.
There was a club in Cinci that had a 'goth night' in otr when I lived there decades ago, but it wasn't. the goths would all kind of cluster in the back of the club. the front was swimming in choads In SF my first goth club was Dead Guild when SOMA was a warzone
Warehouse at 1313 Vine? It started off better but got pretty normal filled. Now it’s a pretty swank restaurant. Last time I as there I watched a bartender/bounce put frat guy in a sleeper hold for fucking with a drag queen.
Yeah, pretty sure it was, but it was 93-94. I don't remember much, they played Stigmata at least once a night and I never complained, and I always had to stay alert because some normal looking dude would want to fight. And the ride home, windows down, blasting whatever was on 97X
That’s within my era. Stopped going around 96 mostly because I wasn’t around much. TBF Cooter's up in Coreyville/Short Vine was pretty sketch area too. We called the Kroger there the “Stick 'n Stab.” The whole Short Vine strip was dangerous in the 80s & 90s.
I am not afraid in “sketchy” areas, only a chad of THEM makes me nervous. (chad being my decided term for 3 or more white men of that ilk)
