United looked like they played their best against a team that couldn’t get out of 1st gear, and lost. Not sure of the spin on this.
Absolute dross and you know it. They couldn’t get out of first gear because they weren’t allowed to.
If you think that was Arsenal at 100%, you’ve either never watched them or you’re just coping. Maybe both. ✌️
Yeah, absolutely hurts being restricted to 3 points
You won. And congrats for this. But my GOD you were shite. Another silver medal (at best) incoming. Enjoy!
You’re Man Utd and you’re taking solace in giving a big club a good game. They don’t give out medals for mid table but enjoy what comes with it anyway.
I love it when supporters of all the runners up teams argue.
Stellar point anonymous manga profile! Godspeed.
That isn't Manga, but I get your point 😂
Ahh! Many thanks! I’m uneducated in such things. What is this person using to hide their misguided views?
A very unpleasant character from a brilliant video game: discoelysium.fandom.com/wiki/Cunog
No worries brother! We’ve been shit for 12 years but them trophies have somehow been relatively consistent. It’s crazy. All the best for the season ahead my guy!
I mean you could say that about more than half the teams in the PL.
What?! 😂😂😂😂
LOL they played better but man for man AFC has a better squad and did not play well. That does. Or mean they are a better team. They will improve on last years 15th place finish. At home they should take points off title challengers.
What has he been smoking?
Didn't Ten Hag say similar things?
They couldn't win this one.
They got rid of Ten Hag, but they couldn’t get rid of the idea
Well, Arsenal finished 2nd last year, and then spent £200 million improving their squad, and United dominated them. Possession, shots, xG. Teams can't control results, only performances. And that United performance was, by any metric, good enough to have won the game. So yes, Amorim is correct.
Please learn about the concept of game state and how it affects stats.
United had 75% possession in the first ten minutes today, and Arsenal completed 9 passes in that time. (The score was 0-0 in this period). In total, United had 22 shots at goal, the first time they've done that to arsenal in the Premier League since 2011 (altho I do 8-2 bring that up).
How many of those 22 shots went in?
Into your brain? All of them, I presume, through your eyes, but there are none so blind as those who do not want to see. You don't win by being the better team, you win by scoring more goals, which Arsenal did, so Arsenal won. But United were the better team. You can still be happy with the 3 pts.
Well I for one look forward to the better team being involved in another relegation battle.
If u understand 1% about football, u can see massive improvement in that Utd side. Salty Arsenal fans here laughing about what Amorim said; one of the sides today are talked about as title contenders and the other as a top half team…if they both play like that each week it’s hard to tell who’s who
Manchester United lost at home, but of course, they’re the title contenders 🥱
I wasn’t saying that. Cheers. 👍🏻
Solid performance. Had Bayindir not thrown one in the net, maybe we'd have got a result we deserved. Arsenal were happy to retreat and defend. Fair enough. It got them the win.
So... you think united deserved a draw?
Yep. I think a draw would have been fair.
But United didn't deserve to draw because they didn't score. Apart from one raya save off Mbuemo. I struggle think of clear cut chances that United created.
Apart from that excellent save. And the save from Mbeumo's header. And the Mbeumo volley that flew just wide. And Dorgu's shot that hit the post. And Cunha's run and shot from his own half. And the well-worked ball into the 6 yard box that saw Saliba kick Cunha's feet out from under him.
The number of speculative efforts you've got on here just to pad out the list. If bayindir had let most of those in you would be calling it a GK mistake.
Cunha didn't catch hold of his shot after running through Arsenal from his own half, but that was a clear chance, and Mbeumo's volley, if it was a foot to the right, no keeper would be getting to. Arsenal get 3 points, that's all they care about, doesn't matter United were the better team.
United statistically created 0 big chances to Arsenal’s 1 big chance throughout the entire game so I don’t know where you’re getting these “clear chances” from…
Also nice work not understanding the second picture you sent, as that backs up my point that United did nothing close to Arsenal’s goal, as shown by Arsenal commanding the area around the box 🤣 United could have been out there for the last 20 hours having speculative shots and it would still be 1-0
Nice stats; now show me the one for big (clear) chances. You know, the original point your were trying to make before pivoting to showing me two pictures that have literally zero to do with your original point
Which one, the penalty that wasn't given? The one that hit the post? The save from Cunha was world class so you can't mean that one. No keeper was getting to Dorgu's shot that hit the post. Mbeumo's header was a classic effort down into the turf, too close Raya but a clear cut chance.
If you had held on to ETH, you'd have had the same result!
Ah but that's just it: football isn't all about results! If the result was all that mattered, nobody would waste time going the games, Sky wouldn't bother sending cameras to the games, and we'd all just wait for the final score to appear in a cell on a spreadsheet. O jogo bonito!
I would recommend you re watch the game if you think that.
Nah mate, I watched the game alright. United weren't gonna score if we played until Thursday!
You don’t need to score to draw a game of football - you’d think with that name you’d be capable of thinking
You do if your keeper "throws one into the net". Keep up mate!
But that wasn’t the question
If you say so!
Well like YOU said. Our keeper threw one in the back of the net. So the answer to “Did Arsenal do enough to win this match” is also no. They did nothing to win this match. Our keeper gave them a goal. Or are you just going to shape your own logic to where it suits you?
Right, Arsenal didn't win the game. United gave us the game Such gracious hosts. We all saw how good gracious you were last season, seems like you intend to carry on the same way. Many more years to Amorim, the new ETH!
If Arsenal had decided to turn up for even one half, they would have blown United away easily. They were lucky to face an Arsenal team clearly struggling for form and cohesion.
What has Arteta done in the pre-season then? He has had the same amount of time as Amorim and one of Europes best strikers. Must be on Arteta for the team "not showing up".
He’s implementing a style change which is going to take time, as his striker had 100 minutes of game time in preseason. It also “must be on Arteta” for his team winning the game when not playing well then, eh Christoffer? Your reply stinks of someone who thinks Utd won by reading comments online 🤣
No we lost because we didn't score, and that is how football works. But to say that a team that finished 2nd with title contentions "doesn't show up" against a team finishing 15th, it's not just a "new system" there has to be more to it.
Arsenal historically struggle away against Utd even when they’re a much better team, yet every year people are shocked about it. Utd should have beaten Arsenal at OT last year when they spent most of the season looking like a non-league side. The key for Utd is playing like that against lesser sides
So Arsenal cannot even play a team, that looks like a lower league team, of the field? Man that is a testament for the coach right there. "We cannot put a bad team to the sword properly but we should have won the league". It doesn't match up. So are you always introducing a new system?
Sorry Christoffer, but what team went home with the 3 points yesterday, and who’s fanbase is still on social media 20 hours later crying over the fact that they didn’t win a game that they created ZERO big chances in? United fans are jokes 🤣
Well, good day to you sir. Hope you have fruitful discussions elsewhere so you don't have to come here be gleeful.
Awhhhh did I upset you, petal? I wasn’t trying to be gleeful until you decided you’d act like a complete tit with your previous reply, so now you can lap up a bit of your own medicine. Arteta has also played 13 games against United and won 8 of them, so long may the new systems be implemented, eh? 🤣
Yes i am a little cry baby, so soft wea wea wea
Why do you think it’s so difficult for a football team to go unbeaten during a season? Even the best teams won’t show up on some days, and they are usually away games. Arteta is 100% trying to implement a new system with new players. There will be growing pains.
Now I understand what you mean. That's true.
There is much work to be done in preseason. Assess young players, transfers, effectiveness of new strategies. Foolish to believe a side playing an away match in their first seasonal match, while implementing a new strategy, is a simple task.
Apart from this one.
United bounced Arsenal off the park. They scored from a corner, caught the goalie napping. Hit the post twice and should have had a pen, sometimes you need a bit of luck. A new GK and CM and this will be a United back in contention. Arsenal will be lucky to get top 4 with efforts like that.
Uh huh… tell me more.
It’s certainly a take, I’ll give him that.
'We show up for the big games.'
Except this one by definition...complete oxymoron
Can vs will. English isn't that complex. They were definitely the better team on the pitch. Just the usual terrible finishing.
Congrats on the “We were the better team on the pitch” trophy!!!
Thank you!
Are you saying they can win a game they have already lost?
What's the past tense of can? Selective BS multiverse troll argument. If I were you, I'd be a lot more worried about the value of that fancy new Swedish striker. When did they take him off the pitch? After 5 minutes, or so?
My original comment was perfectly reasonable & coherent, but it clearly touched a raw nerve with you. If you have a look around you will see other people have quoted the original post saying much the same as I did. Then you resort to classic red herring fallacy, I wonder why?! 🤔🤣
You can take the Twitter users out of Twitter, but you can't take the Twitter out of the users. 😆 MAGA also thinks they're collectively right about nonsense troll arguments. You'd have so much fun there.
You’re dead right with the first sentence there, Hans. You should definitely take your own advice and go back to Twitter!
Does help if you actually win, though.. But boy were we garbage today, it will likely look like our worst performance of the season. Which is why a win is so enjoyable!
That sounds a bit moaniho.
...........er, why not win this game then so ?
Remember when Arteta beat Liverpool with a terrible team, and his response was to say that the gap was still far too large in terms of quality.
I think today only showed Arsenal can’t win the league
An oxymoron if there was ever one
... Except this one 😬
So based on that logic then they can lose too... Like they did
Played arsenal off the park, need to improve finishing and give Bayindir some balls.
Except for this one, apparently
They looked the better team. He’s right.
Any game except for the one that just finished, apparently
