The NRA is on life support. The real problem is that the tumor once called the Confederacy is back, and growing.

I've lived in the South my whole life and I've been saying for years that the Civil War never really ended. It just went cold.
Yeah. I think it’s warming up.
I wouldn’t know, I’m in UK. But the guns and attitudes towards them are in the marrow of the US. And the NRA played a huge role in putting them there
💁🏾♀️ America began with guns and violence,it will end the same way. This is and has always been a very self-righteous & hypocritical nation. Maybe Almighty God has allowed a felon in office to tear it from its foundation so America will stop worshipping itself & money. In God We Trust is on its money.
WELL...remember this: when the black panthers in oakLand in the 1960s armed themselves, to protect their brothers & sisters, the NRA came out screaming like everyone else, all in favor of restrictive gun laws. fckng hypocrites. arm every black man & woman now, & see how that goes.!!
No, not the NRA at that point. But yes, all of a sudden then-Governor Reagan signed a gun control law as a direct response to those scary, scary Panthers.
thanks for that clarification. i'd heard for decades that the nra joined in, but have never actually "researched" it even by googling.
The NRA and gun lobby have fed tons of bs to responsible gun owners for decades. Any law even something overwhelmingly popular is contorted into an evil slippery slope plot of the government coming for all guns.
Proving my point really. I get that people living in the middle of nowhere may need guns. Mountain lions, bears etc No one in any city in the US or anywhere “needs” a gun. You need a gun to shoot things. Shoot what? So a responsible gun owner in this situation is a complete non sequitur.
By coincidence,it all began with 3 Americans in England.
I enjoy the skill of marksmanship. It was very necessary in the military. I continue to practice marksmanship and doubt I will ever need it again for the same purpose, as I do not wish to kill anything. Yet ....
The US is culturally very different than UK. Not better or worse, just different. There are large swaths of the country where ties to rural roots are strong. Not everywhere is like the Eastern Seaboard which is very urbanized. Many people in some areas of the country hunt. And do it for food.
No one in the UK sends their child to school and worries they will get shot. The end
Saying that responsible gun owners shouldn’t be have guns just because they live in an urban area only feeds into the bs that the NRA peddles: They are coming for your guns. Do we need gun control? Most Emphatically YES. Is there such a thing as responsible gun ownership? Yes
No
No what? Responsible gun ownership? I would hold up my entire family as examples of responsible gun ownership. Guns are treated with respect. Trigger locks/Gun Safe always used.
I was raised to respect even toy guns. There was no waiving around a toy gun. You never pointed a toy gun at anything but its intended target. My father has rules at his land if you want to hunt. No alcohol & guns. Always know what is behind what you are shooting at.
There are more but you get the point. If someone doesn’t follow his rules they can leave an not come back.
Let’s be real here. Minnesota is the approximate size of England. It has urban, rural and wilderness areas. I live in a Minneapolis suburb. I don’t hunt personally, but virtually my entire family does. Father, sister, nephews, uncles, cousins.
My mom & I are the only ones who don’t hunt. Duck, geese, pheasant, grouse, turkey, rabbit, deer, bear, moose etc were all served to me as a child. MANY people here do hunt. In a little over an hour, I could be where my dad duck or goose hunted.
Just a little further and I could be where he deer hunts. I’m sure there are closer places, but I grew up in central MN and that is what I know. MANY people who live in the metro area hunt. We have roads that take us from the urban area to where the game is. Many have cabins in northern MN.
The discussion is about the firearm that seems to be used in the majority of these mass shootings, the AR15 style weapon. This weapon is designed to cause the max. number of casualties in the shortest time. Any hunter with some common sense needs to understand this, nobody is coming for your rifle.
youtu.be/0rR9IaXH1M0?...
Normal people do not need rifles. That you think you do is the whole issue
I grew up in OC CA when it was still cowboys orange trees & Marines. We were taught to shoot a Children. I always hated the blood & death & was laughed at. I remember when my Brother & wife looking at my pistol whipped face said "We're Good gun owners" overlooking the man meant to SHOOT ME!
Well that is a whole different subject
I feel sorry for the poor effing wildlife
I’m a vegan. Are you? Do you eat meat? We can also say that poor chicken kept in a small cage its entire life?
If everyone in America all went out and hunted, it would be chaos. Hunting risks the safety of other people, is cruel when the kill is incomplete and fouls the environment with lead shot. I do eat meat, yes. But i still don't like hunting.
I’m not fond of hunting; don’t do it myself. But, I will not judge responsible hunters. They don’t take a shot unless they have it. In a place like MN, there are a lot of deer. Hunting is the primary method of population control. Overpopulation, starvation & disease are not kind ways to die.
Responsible gun owners have been known to hide their insecurities and SNAP!! Taking out whole Families... Coworkers Hated assembly CEO Responding police Nextdoor bar patrons On TV political opponents
I would say they are not responsible gun owners. Personally, I would not mind if guns were to disappear from our society. But that is not going to happen. So I say focus on getting rid of weapons of war. Implement reasonable gun control: universal background checks, red flag laws,
secure gun storage laws etc. Heck, require liability insurance.
I used to hunt. I never once found that I needed an automatic rifle or handgun to do it.
Yep. There are responsible gun owners with rational guns that serve a purpose. And then there are weapons with no legitimate purpose that the NRA and gun lobby peddle for profit. I don’t hunt won’t judge hunters. I do judge the profiting off of selling weapons of war & making us all less safe.
Especially “people killers” AK47s
I totally agree there is no legal purpose for weapons of war. For the people who say, target practice. I roll my eyes. But Fine. The person can go to a gun range licensed & insured to provide them for target practice and rent one. Spend a fortune on ammunition to make the person feel BIG 🙄
Apparently you no longer need a fridge for ICE? Make of that what you will. @cnn.com
Check police response times of any of the 25 largest cities. You will get an average time of 7-12 minutes. They won't tell you the top 50 longest times that could be 20+ minutes.
No. It’s always been there. Believe it or not, the NRA used to be a very benign organization. It turned into a sick right-wing grift 40-50 years ago.
Observing from 🍁I have difficulty with the idea of bump stocks, military rifles&such, especially when touted as the right to bear arms for food & protection. Blast an intruder in your home & YOU end up in jail. Hunt for food? Are you fast tracking for ground meat? An AKwhatever & 300 rounds of ammo??
A normal person practices on a range. They become a reasonable shot A burglar breaks in their house, are they getting the gun from its place in time? ready to shoot ? Kill ? The intruder is pumped up, Jo normal is at home, maybe in PJs. They are are no match at all , so it’s all bollocks
You haven’t lived until you’ve tried fresh T Rex meat.
well aged?
At least an epoch.
The NRA is in the Epstein Files.
They're renaming Union Station Confederacy Station.
Ha! I used the same joke just yesterday. It wouldn’t even be a surprise at this point.
