May 4, 2019: Lake Mineral Wells State Park (TX) held a wildflower walk that day. Our park ranger tour guide is seen here leading our little group. Later that day I asked him about the copperhead snakes that I see every time I camp overnight in the park. “Don’t folks get bit here?" I asked. 1/2

Lake Mineral Wells State Park near Mineral Wells, Texas. May 5, 2019. Seen here is our ranger tour guide and our little group on a wildflower walking tour through the park. The tour was quite nice, but I was disappointed we didn’t see a single copperhead snake the entire day. I usually see at least one on every overnight camping trip I’ve done here.

“Well, yes,” he replied. Me: “What do you when that happens?” Him: “We tell them to go into town to the hospital.” The hospital is about 6 road miles away on the other side of town. Apparently copperhead venom isn’t as potent as that of rattlesnake or other snakes. No copperheads seen that day.
