You can tell Labour are doomed because Starmer's squawking on about banning energy drinks for kids, while Zack Polanski is doing the rounds sounding somewhat normal.

The first 'ban Zack' article will appear in 3...2...
I thought they were already banned for under 16s? Due to excessive taurine?
Isn't it advisory rather than a full on ban
Oh, maybe? My local shop won't sell them to kids without ID. Googling, it looks like some chains have chosen to restrict energy drinks for under 16s.
NB Starmer has never sounded normal in his sorry life.
The voice is a big disadvantage on that front for him, before you even get into the content.
True, however, I don’t care if he has zero charisma if only he resembled something slightly more human.
Watching wet paint dry more human than that right wing echo chamber
Aren’t energy drinks already banned for kids? I get asked for my age on just eat if ordering energy drinks n same at self service tills
Polanski, is great, at telling people what they want to hear. A textbook politician. The mask will slip, once he gets any power.
Willing to take that chance over Starmer or Farage
I'm not gullible enough to take part in a demonstrable snake oil sale.
The only snake oil salesman is Starmer, once in power, do the opposite
That's every politician in any western capitalist nation. Every one of them represent capitalism, and the capitalist class.
Liberal tinkering that will change absolutely nothing. Just reinforcing the status quo.
Bullshit, you stick with the establishment 3 parties vying for power
All political parties, are establishment entities.
Deluded, the Green party not even close to the establishment, be outside then
I don't vote, and thanks for prefacing, your post, describing the contents.
You support GAZA, so does Zac POLANSKI
lmao You make him sound so Starmeresque.
Yep. I called Blair out for what he was, before he became leader of the Labour Party.
Starmer governing and Polanski saying what has been said many times -populist but the difficulty is he has no idea how to deliver any of it.
This is what really gets me. Even if you don't like the Greens, Zack Polanski is out discussing actual government tasks like tackling inequality, meanwhile Labour cabinet ministers are going on TV to talk about their union jack bunting.
And actually trying to tackle inequality it just talking about itv
Doomed wanting to bring in Digital ID Cards as well, alienate the old and poor people doing that
Polanski is not taking the Corruption of our Youth seriously.
Yeah but the status quo preservation machine hasn't got started on Polanski yet :-/
No child should be consuming that rubbish, no adult either so well done Labour.
Labour is going down. People want living standards to improve. They're not asking the government to babysit their kids. When Labour isn't pandering to racists and fascists, they're banning stuff in an effort to appear somewhat effective.
Well that’s certainly an opinion but you didn’t apply much intellectual rigour when you formulated it.
How am I wrong? What has Starmer done to condemn the escalating hate crimes against minorities? Nothing; he is instead pandering to the flag shaggers. He is also now defending Glinner's right to incite violence against trans women. Minorities will not vote for him at the next GE. We see him.
That's funny, because I don't think you applied any intellectual rigour whatsoever when you made your ill-judged intervention in this thread to thoughtlessly parrot calls to ban yet more things for no particular reason. In fact it's doubtful you have any real concept of intellectual rigour.
Good one 👍
Also not to be all "it didn't do me any harm", but this is anti-me playing Total War games into the night discrimination.
playing total war games into the night is a core part of any decent civic education and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
How else would 13 year old me understand that you need to expand the walls otherwise squalor builds up?
look clearly SOMEONE needed to teach me about the japanese warring states period and it's not like school was going to
I'm now wondering if Shogun was the reason I ended up the way I am both about history stuff and Japan.
I am sure for at least some folk finding out how deeply anachronistic Ptolemaic Egypt was in Rome Total War got them Into History
of course if you're not careful you end up in paradox games and start having some very deep thoughts about the eastern roman empire
When I first encountered CK2 I realised that it was the game I wanted Total War games to be based on the mods I kept using and have never looked back.
I am an old hand at Paradox games going back to the generation of the original CK and Victoria and was instantly entranced, already being a big fucking history nerd who loves spreadsheets, even when I have issues with them there's just nowt like them
See it’s the opposite for me. Nothing more satisfying than funnelling a bunch of swordsmen into a wall of silver shield pikemen and heavy Syrian archers
One of those things where I ended up understanding it from a game design perspective, but I couldn't really unsee ever again once I'd learned about it.
yeah there's all sorts of things in historical total war that make sense when it comes to game design but don't seem particularly correct (horse archers and cavalry in battles are the big ones for me once I started reading a little about ancient and medieval warfare)
I still have the voice of an Australian woman saying "Public order is very low here and without action there may be a riot!" etched into my brain
I had to make do with playing Civilization and Age of Empires for my education and look how I turned out
a shameful display! etc
Banning energy drinks is a big thing. I'd also throw Coke into that mix; no child should be drinking anything with caffeine in it.
Perhaps, but taurine is exponentially worse for health.
That I didn't know.
Tbf, like a lot of chemicals, taurine is very beneficial at the right dose. There's just way too much of it in energy drinks, and kids aren't known for their ability to moderate.
I'm pretty sure you need ID to buy them in supermarkets if you look like a child. If kids are drinking them at home, it's the parents' responsibility to stop them.
Coffee also contains caffeine, as does tea and chocolate. Are you seriously suggesting that children shouldn't be able to consume these things? That's... pretty wild. I have no idea what it is that makes Britain so weird about children, but you've offered up a sterling example of said weirdness.
All while anyone who buys those in supermarkets knows your age is checked.
