The soft secession begins.
The soft secession begins.
I've got my fingers crossed for a somewhat less soft secession.
Hopefully this is the 1st step to a consortium approach through participating state depts. of health to fill in where the CDC, FDA and NIH are no longer functioning in our best interests.Utilizing university researchers & biotech companies to move us forward & engaging scientists who are now avail.

This is what leadership looks like. Whew. Finally!
This healthcare soft secession started in spring of 2020, when the Northeast and Pacific coast states coordinated COVID policy together. This is merely a continuation of a long running cultural battle that is ultimately about valuing lives and democracy...or something else.
I live in South Carolina and I say good for them! Maybe my grandchildren in CA will have a decent chance!
If I survive this, it will be because of Governor Newsom.
It sounds good in theory, but it seems it would be legally really risky for states. Federal law preempts here since the FDA has sole authority over drug approval, and on top of that there’s civil liability, possible loss of federal funding, and even potential criminal penalties.
But we have no law?
My understanding is the FDA has exclusive authority over drug and vaccine approval. I think that’d be considered the law but I’m not a lawyer. I’ve read that’s also why doctors may be unwilling to prescribe vaccines to patients if vaccines haven’t been approved by the FDA, for fear of liability.
I literally just have to cross a river to do some "vaccine tourism" into a blue state.

Let’s hope blue states follow this lead
The cold civil war intensifies.
I guarantee, if they are given the opportunity of time, the Trump administration will move to prevent states from acting independently from the Fed mandates. The crisis is coming. The danger is here.
Blue states need to stop funding them today Shit the money and worry about the frown states
The adults have to take charge Remember last time during Covid
Great! If the federal government no longer wants to provide ANY useful services to me, I'm glad Massachusetts will. Good on Governor Healey to organize this. (Tried to book a Covid shot at CVS three times this week only to be told it is "unavailable" in my state. Fuck you, RFK Jr.)
It's literally the least she could do.
Perfect. The next step would be to raise a question why are we paying the same taxes to the Federal government, which now provides much less service - thus the taxes should decrease accordingly.
How do we stop paying taxes to Trump?
They did the same during the pandemic
It's been happening for a few months now. Gov Healey organized a meeting between New England governors and Canadian governors to ensure trade continues between them. Walz, Evers, and Whitman, I believe did a similar meeting for the Great Lakes region
Yes, THIS! More states should do this! It will help to at least partially address the health shortfall the federal government has created through their reckless and evil behavior.
I love this.
We are the Union. We believe in the Constitution of the United States. We don’t secede. We preserve.
