Much of their background comes from prior experience with lpdotorg; much good, some bad; but with other influence and further thought brought in.
Much of the capable experience from the better days of lpdotorg is now a part of LPUSA. Pretty sure that, for you, getting to know more of their people is worth your while. You can ask how their idea of "liberal" differs (closer to correct IMO) from more common misunderstandings of the idea.
