Socialism is the democratic ownership of the means of production. Capitalism is the autocratic ownership of the means of production. Socialism is but the proletariat liberating themselves from capitalist exploitation and oppression. That's why Socialism is intrinsically libertarian in nature.
What does "democratic" mean there?
It means that the workers own and control their workplace collectively and demoratically, usually via Co-operatives or worker's councils. They vote on major changes in the firm and all the profits go to the workers who produce the value.
Thanks. I try to track what socialism means to advocates in general. It helps me understand discussions that much faster, and to perk up when something a bit novel comes by.
