yep... ugh appended to the end
This is a huge issue on the Sunshine Coast and you can’t densify without infrastructure but you can’t build infrastructure without densifying.
5. Support Single Egress Stair (SES) Buildings The province allowed these in the code, but there is still a big knowledge gap and pushback. The code changes also need to be backed by zoning and urban design updates so we can unlock the potential of SES buildings. Also: lower cost elevators!
6. Allow modular / mobile housing in high demand cities We can talk about prefab/modular all day, or we can simply allow the scalable prefab/modular housing solutions that already exist. Don't want RVs in driveways? Then build more housing!
Ok! There's lots that should also happen at the Federal and local levels, but this is where I think the Province needs to push to help us find our Missing Middle.
And, you probably noticed I added the wrong image to #4, so here it is.
Love that thread Bryn, lol now make it a powerpoint and come as a delegation to our next council meeting !!!
Yes to this. Especially in places where there is NO affordable housing because local governments have prioritized 5000 sq ft luxury homes. Flexible density can be used until permanent affordable solutions are built. thediscourse.ca/nanaimo/regi...
