I'm guessing it's probably not battery and gummed up seals, but Pentax mechanisms had an issue with things not completing the cycle - I've had a couple of SVs and Spotmatics that did this - opening the bottom you can push a lever to finish the cycle. There are 'tube vids for this.
Failing that there's a good group on Facebook, Film Camera Repair Directory and Resources, who have loads of grumpy people on and will insult anyone who can't strip down a Leica shutter, but they know what they're doing and, after a few grumbles, will point you in the right direction!
yep i replaced the battery to no avail. i guess if i break it myself i'll just get a cla after all.
