My guess is a cocktail of diuretics and blood thinners to help circulation and fluid retention —but these are hard on the kidneys. I am not a doctor. Just someone who has spent a lot of time around elderly patients including family.

Yeah, I had to take a lot of medical classes for my degree and I could recognize the hand bruises but couldn't recall why it would be needed.
