It’s fairly common, unfortunately. They take advantage of weakness and even use it to deny such abuse occurred - “she’s nuts, you can’t believe her”. Abuse is more about power and violence than desire.

Yeah :( It's a tactic a lot of abusers use. I think it especially baffles me because some of the main reasons I stuck around and even got close were because of the claims that they were safe to talk about mental health with- one of my abusers in this case is even a literal therapist...
Unfortunately I already know that occupation doesn't mean someone can't be harmful. I had a weird therapist who overshared stuff about her life to me when I was 13 in a deeply disturbing way so it's not the first time... thankfully this time it wasn't like my actual therapist and just someone I knew
