I don’t think the argument is that mentally ill people are less violent. It’s that people with mental illness are more vulnerable to abuse.
It’s really hard to tell, since everything is a performance with him.
Although some of us do seem to fall into addictive habits easier than others.
I’m not convinced anyone can answer that question. Maybe you’re fishing for a particular answer? Not everyone with bpd or autism or any neurodivergence is the same. My personality, added to my particular “flavour” of bpd, will be vastly different to the next guy with the “same” disorder.
Seems like “midlife” occurs a lot more frequently for us with bpd.
I’ve never heard of bipolar 3. I have 2 & it’s no picnic.
Hell no. That sounds a horrible way to live. Get yourself a good counselling, and a shrink to put you on the right meds. Then do the opposite - try to enjoy the hell out of life.

Yes. Very possible. I’m a full time pastor. Married nearly 40 yrs. Coaching disability sport. 5 kids & 3 grandkids. One key is taking meds religiously. No “stop taking because I feel great”. Also a supportive partner really makes a difference.
I can relate. Impulse buying is a real problem.

It’s really tough trying to work out who you are. I’m still not convinced I know what my “baseline” is 20+ years later. But I have found the diagnosis and meds have helped relieve my guilt at some impulsive decisions I’ve made.
You don’t wanna jump to conclusions though. You generally need a psychiatrist to diagnose bipolar.

I struggled with the same following my diagnosis. “You’re do clever; you think do much faster than me” used to be a compliment. Then it became, “maybe I was never really smart; just manic”. It can really shake your sense if who you are. 20 years later, I’m still navigating it, but it’s much easier.
I discovered this feed recently & pinned it. Now it’s the first feed I check daily. Currently going through & following everyone.
Seeing patterns that no one else can? Recognising it as delusional should help you not get sucked in.
I served in the Army, but that was years before my bipolar diagnosis. Nowadays they wouldn’t touch me.

That far apart actually seems pretty stable. That’s usually achieved by being in the right meds and taking them religiously.
The “numbness” can be a real issue. But mania can cause real harm - sometimes to others. But I admit, I do miss feeling “high”. The mood stabilisers reduce the major swings, but leave me feeling somewhat flat. I don’t miss the depression, but sometimes it would be nice to feel good.
There’s definitely a genetic component. I look at my late dad, clearly unwell over many years. And all my kids have inherited something from me. Not the legacy I wanted.

I saw that online and felt so sad for him. It seemed like people were more interested in recording than helping. But we didn’t necessarily see everything in context, so maybe…?
The whole concept of marketing drugs is bizarre to Australians. We don’t have this at all. Our doctors decide what meds we need, not the patients.

It’s fairly common, unfortunately. They take advantage of weakness and even use it to deny such abuse occurred - “she’s nuts, you can’t believe her”. Abuse is more about power and violence than desire.
I don’t think there’s any reputable science prohibiting people with mental illnesses getting vaccinated. In Oz we are actually on a priority list, as people with chronic conditions.
That really sucks. I was fortunate that my diagnosis came after my regular GP referred me to a psychiatrist, and he reviewed me over a couple of visits. To be honest, while the initial diagnosis was a shock, 35 years later I’m grateful to be living as a functional adult with the right meds.
I never mentioned salvation. Just that empty prayers/blessings don’t help anyone. They need to be backed up by action if we truly care about people in need.

Haven’t heard of Lamictil. I had a nasty incident with my Lithium about a decade ago. They switched me onto Seroqeuel (Quetiapine). I’ve found it pretty effective. Apparently it’s now the preferred treatment for Bipolar 2 (in Oz).
