I was on a search last year in Sycamore Canyon where the Lakeside Substation deputies were trying to convince everybody involved we were actually in Poway so theyβd get credit for the assist. Hasnβt changed.

The majority of my career, there were no "Lakeside" deputies. We got Santee or Alpine units. The "new" Lakeside substation is in our old fire administration building on Parkside St.

The cops tend to make stuff up. (As far as jurisdiction.) I went on a fatal accident on the RB/4S border once. Sgt on scene, "Yeah, we decided in the field that SDPD would handle this area." Nothing like expending city cash outside the city with no written agreement or reimbursement.
