War of 1812
I plead ignorance of the 1812 military campaigns. The only campaign I know about was this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CnP... Not exactly history. :)
And that was after the war had ended.
We burnt the White House
If I recall correctly, that was in a place that was never called Canada. We're arguing about when US troops made a hostile entrance into a place called, "Canada."
Interested. I learned a tiny bit about the war of 1812. Anyway, we didn't start that war so you can't call defensive attacks "invasions." Ukraine has not "invaded Russia" recently. It was a counter attack. War is messy. SO, thank you. Bye.
Iβm not sitting here listing off every name Canada has ever used π
In any event, Googling now, it seems the area was called "The Canadas" (upper and lower) at the time (1791 and later).
I did happen to remember that. "Oops."
This may come as a surprise but the former British colonies that formed Canada were nonetheless called βCanadaβ before 1867.
"revolutionary war" β "civil war" The former was 1775 to 1782.
We know. Are you suggesting that post-Revolution, the US did *not* attempt to invade and annex Canadian territory? Several times?
