September 11, 1846: the rest of the Donner Party leaves Pilot Peak in cold weather and with snow crunching under their feet. The woman especially are seething at Reed for the terrible losses they have endured. Angry at the men in general for their "shortcut." 1/2
The party by this point is hardly a party. They tend to travel separately, often miles apart. This began after the crossing of the Wasatch by necessity as some parties had faster oxen and wagons. But now it's much more acrimonious. The party is essentially split. 2/2
