Wow! Gorgeous.
Thank you! βΊοΈ
They donβt stick around for the ripening fruit?
No, not really - they seem to be obligate migrants (hard-wired). Their median departure date from my area at the west end of Lake Ontario in southern Ontario is September 8th.
Beautiful birds ππ
No worries, Canadian friends, I'll keep an eye on your Baltimore Orioles in Costa Rica this winter. π
It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it! Jealous.
Beautiful!
They are a joy to see and to hear! I love their sweet song. π§‘π€
I can see why they come to your feeders - lots of selection! Keep up the good work π
A labour of love!
Your pics are gorgeous! Ty for sharingβ¦.
Thanks very much!
So gorgeous!
Great pics. Ones that hang out at our feeder will be leaving very soon. They have been busy this past week tanking up on the grape jelly nectar I put out for them - need to fill it 3x a day at this point. And just like that, one morning they just won't be thereπ
I know, right? It's so easy to know the exact date they arrive in the spring, but much harder to know when they left - I find the numbers slowly dwindle until there is only one, and then, one morning, none. Refilling the jelly these days is hazardous - have to fight through a horde of wasps!
What are their travel plans?
Florida, Central America, Caribbean, northern South America. Lucky birds get to escape our winter!
Gorgeous! They'll know where to find you!
Beautiful π
