Oh yes please
Oh yes please
Lovely!
Isnβt kayaking just magical?!
Very lovely, thank you for sharing.
It was a very peaceful paddle. While fishermen use this river to access the lake, itβs not commercial fishing season yet so the boat traffic was almost nonexistent. There were still lots of birds to listen to as they get ready to head south. 2/
So beautiful! And a strange illusion as the sun and it's refection slowly but surely seem to move horizontally to the left! Thank you for sharing these beautiful places!
Youβre welcome. Iβm glad you enjoy it. I think the illusion is because Iβm going around the corner and thereβs not a lot of definition in the shoreline.
Yes! If I keep my eyes fixed on the sun then the boat is slowly turning and the sun's stays in place. But if I look again and look at the river and the reeds: there goes the sun. So nice!!!
The barn swallows were out in droves, snapping up whatever flying insect they could find over the water. Iβm glad I got going before the heat of the day so I could witness all of this activity. 3/
I love kayaking when the water is like glass like that!
Busy place!
Itβs about a 4 km paddle to the lake. The river gets wider and wider until you come around a bend and there it is. 4/
I met up with some American white pelicans at the mouth of the river. These are the largest birds in Manitoba with an 8 to 10 foot wingspan. I was actually surprised at how much they were willing to tolerate me. Usually, they fly off well before I get this close. 5/
They are so BIG!
Heading back to the launch. It always feels so surreal when the water is like this. Iβm starting to feel the heat of the day out in the open like this, but weβre getting close to the car. 6/8
I was thinking that the water looks like glass here and then comparing it to the ripples on the lake. I kayak in Whiskeytown Lake and Lake Shasta, and it is usually wind blown.
Itβs not even September, but the geese are already on the move. Iβm not sure if these guys are heading south or somewhere to feed. We are right on the central flyway, so we get a lot of bird traffic. 7/8
The launch is just before the bridge, but I couldnβt pass up drifting underneath it a little bit before pulling myself out of the water. I hope you enjoyed this little interlude as much as I enjoyed my paddle this morning. 8/8
I paddled along with you! So wonderful! Thank you!
Thank you so much
Absolutely glorious, thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you!
Incredible! I love to sit outside and listen to the swallows chatter at each other while acting like tiny fighter jets. I believe some of the swallow family is thought to have something akin to a heads up display for their vision where they see a sparkly outline around bugs.
Peaceful indeed!!π
Thanks so much for sharing!! Btw, you are SO STEADY!!π
Thank you. Iβm not paddling while Iβm filming, which makes it a lot easier to be steady.
So beautiful
What a beautiful morning paddle. Love your photo!
