I think most people are saying it is the cause and the effect, not that it is “justified.” I live close to a river, did not vote to gut the government, and am rolling into hurricane season feeling like a blind man. Floods are mostly silent killers, and flash floods are living horror movies.

You're so right. Also, blind is an apt word. I guess you've heard this "good news." I'd say contact your representatives, but odds are you're in a red state. Wish I had better news for you. www.militarytimes.com/news/your-mi...

Red state. I wrote Lindsey Graham a letter months ago essentially calling him a soulless amoral shell of a human being, unconcerned about the state of this country, our future, or his numerous betrayals of the oath to the constitution. I got a form letter thanking me. Obviously they don’t read stuff

I’ve never deep-dived into this and I don’t live in a Hurricane Zone but it’s always been a mystery to me as to why the European trajectories of Our Hurricanes seemed to be more accurate than our Own. Any feedback on this?

There are more than a dozen credible track prediction programs. No single one is accurate all the time, and the best forecasts are made from estimating consensus tracks from the combined group. The more different models agree, the more likely they are to be accurate. This is Chantal.

Thank you. I understand that precise predictability does not exist as atmospheric variables are in constant motion and the layering of perspectives are important. No matter, I always appreciate information and education. Thanks again.

That video that came out from Texas, there was barely ANY noise over the rain even as the river rushed by. I never knew they were that quiet.

I had relatives in Asheville in Helene. Although in some places there was a roar of passing water, where they were it was silent and rising. Fortunately, their major problem was cleaning up a mess, power loss, and loss of potable water for several days. Store water, batteries, and dry foods.

It’s an odd thing, you may hear sounds of things bumping together or breaking apart, maybe the splash of a tree falling, but the water itself is moving so fast you can’t stand in it, and trying to swim in it is suicide. Looking down from the surface though it can look relatively harmless at times.
