It wasn't. Sorry but no one was calling cadence, they were marching to an off beat sound. Hence it was cluster

Ok - the army has that reg too. It’s under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). So those in LA are there because there because they agree w it, just following orders, unaware of the article, or just didn’t want to challenge it

I only believe it because those who march are selected. You have to be perfect. Cadence, called or not, is like breathing. In parades, it’s expected you may not hear the calls - there’s so much crowd noise. For parades, practice til you dream about it. Other vets who’ve marched think on purpose too

Unless things have changed, they select the best for those events, either by units (as when I was in) or individuals as w shared bases, then practice til perfection. There’s a price to pay if correct. Not disagreeing w you, but wonder if the you tube is cherry picked. I’ll have to go look.

Did anyone hear a Sousa March? A staple of any Patriot parade. I'm a Marching Band veteran, and throughout the procession you should always hear a triumphant drum cadence! The Army gave trump the lame performance he hardly even deserved!!!
I didn’t hear it, but I don’t think so. If not, I think that would be a first for a formal parade. Sometimes we’d have it, others not. I never understood why the difference.

Drill and Ceremony - You learn that right after your haircut and your uniform issue. (we called ours 'pickle suits'). Out in a field, with sunburnt ears - "your left, your left, your left, right, left, my boots are heavy my pants are tight, my balls are swinging from left to right, your left etc.
My apologies to any female soldiers, I joined in '76 and there were no females in my BCT.
Lol - you funny! No apologies needed. I joined in ‘79 and if I told you ours, I’d be banned. Btw - we used to pass the guys on the field and could hear them. Can’t tell you how much restraint it took not to bust out laughing, but we couldn’t even crack a smile.
Not only out of step. Very few were even in their best uniform and their “dressing” on parade was awful. Ironically , the British were demonstrating how to do it properly in London a few hours earlier.
I read where they were dressed according to the era throughout their history and as they would have appeared during wartime. I don’t know if that’s true or not.
Oh ok. I don’t know about that, but even in wartime (as in the 2 world wars) the British and other countries had dress uniforms for parades etc when they were away from the front lines, or going to or from leave etc.
Oh yeah - we had to wear our dress uniforms in parades - the blues. And we were inspected to the hilt. There had better not be any loose buttons, a string hanging, shoe blemish, or wrinkle.

I didn’t. Watch the Parade but caught it on the News where I saw the troops not saluting him even as he saluted them. Well, they gave him the respect he actually gives them when he calls them suckers and losers.
I sure didn’t watch it. Partly because just couldn’t stomach it, and I really was afraid his minions would show up. Saw clips on the news. They certainly did! As a vet - so proud of them. I just hate “suckers and losers” protect him.
