I think this is just trying to apply Trumpian rhetoric to other Republicans. It's always worked for Trump, just proclaiming he's a winner until society gives up and gives him his trophy.
they did delay a lot of the cuts but I gotta think setting things up so that either you vote for Democrats in 2026 or you lose your insurance is gonna work out great for them
Dems could roll them back if they take both houses of Congress, and bet that Trump won't sign. But there's a good chance he does and then run on saving Social Security.
Trump doesn't even know that he cut Medicaid afaict
If he senses something popular has happened, he'll immediately be out there taking responsibility for it.
can you imagine the nursing home canvassing. vote blue or you all lose your jobs and/or die on the street
Delaying the cuts probably hurts even more. The specter of the impending doom of a bill can be just as harmful as reality.
Reminds of all the “ extinction of the GOP” articles that came out in the spring of 2009 … and by the summer of 2009 it was VERY clear that conservatism was very much still alive !
Yeah but dems didn't have direct control over voting machines
Neither party does!
“Let’s make our fascist police war against the city full of influencers perfectly stream and clipable. That’ll make the kids love us”
Latino realigment is going to hit like a truck.
I’m curious what happens when that normal thermostatic backlash kicks in. Like these people are convinced 1) woke is over, 2) the mass deportations are destined to succeed, and 3) they’re on a path to remake America in their image. What happens if/when their chances of success plummet?
Declare a state of emergency, claim the elections were rigged
And that's before the post-summer sale tariff pricing kicks in on retail, the impending crash in Tech since interest rates won't fall, ongoing inflation issues made worse by deportations and the continued retirement of the boomers, and the prospect of summer brownouts from transformer shortages.
Keep in mind they believe undocumented immigrants are voting in elections and that this is the democrats’ entire electoral strategy.
They don’t just see this is a popular policy, they believe they are deporting the Democrat voting base.
In other words the election conspiracies in 2026 will be wild as they square the circle of “Trump successfully deported all the Mexicans” and “the dems still managed to rig the election”. One assumes they will jump to dead people voting, or hacked machines, or paid voters.
Also traffic as a policy barometer is twisted. And it's still here (I'm working at home in lieu of spending an hour in the car). The only time it was gone was early COVID (I don't long for a return to early COVID)
