Whether you want to believe Gilbert or not, I do think that it's relevant context that immediately before this Rayya had to shoot up in order to be able to have a conversation. I think people are reading this as her dumping her for having cancer

I feel like it's important to note that gilbert ran headlong into drinking & drug use with her partner, a former addict, when their relationship started, and is the one *actually providing rayya with the drugs* when the relapse becomes catastrophic
