hey do you actually know who Roy Cooper is or the fact that he was instrumental in defending trans rights in NC or are you just a wrecker?
hey do you actually know who Roy Cooper is or the fact that he was instrumental in defending trans rights in NC or are you just a wrecker?
seems to me that getting this correct on 2028 will require that we absolutely draw clear lines between those who have tried to protect trans people like Roy Cooper, and those desperate to throw trans people under the bus for a rhetorical win on a podcast his incel kid listens to, like Gavin Newsom
the vehemence of yesterday’s Cooper discourse was so bizarre I wondered if some posters were running an op Understand critiquing him for antisemitism definition, but the ppl talking about “capture of Dem party by Christians”—from what planet did you drop in
It's just rank, collectivist, gutter bigotry, but they think it's okay to express because they're otherwise progressives. www.aaronrosspowell.com/2025/07/29/n...
Wrecker.
I know which square I'd put my chips on lol
They should just admit they do not want anyone with any faith to gain office if that their stance.
🤷
lol-ing that she's posting through it and doubling down in the replies, real poster's spirit tbh
She uses the word "Church" with a capital letter then says "don't lecture me what his particular church believes in and practices"...whatever, blocked.
Wait, has this person effectively started to claim that "I, an atheist, am a more reliable source for what people in a particular church believe, not that particular church's members."
I am not super interested in reenacting the exchange, but it was more like "anyone professing any religion=Church" and "I as an non-religious person will shit on them or their defenders as anti-trans, as is my sole right, and explaining any doctrine to me is offensive proselytizing, so shut up" 🤷
Meaning they didn't want to listen at all that some religions or versions there of might not be intolerant. Essentially, the equal and opposite position of the Fundamentalists. "They must be wrong because they don't appear on first glance to think exactly like I do."
I mean, I don't know what trauma might underlie any of her opinions about religion, but projecting that trauma onto every politician in the US who talks about their personal religion...is going to leave very little room for political allies, but maybe that is the purity test she has settled on.
also hiding behind the mantle of championing trans rights when doing it lol
When the person they are criticizing is a known ally who has successfully defended their rights for years? This person feels like they like to bite the hand that feeds if it isn't the exact way they want it. Hell, I bet they don't know what they want or they want something impossible.
Serious case of someone making an off the cuff remark and then just refusing to reassess things based on actual facts
“Who wouldn’t vote for them anyway” is a wild take about someone who’s won statewides in NC almost every four years for the last quarter century.
My straight-ticket Republican sister voted for Cooper. I’m thrilled he’s our candidate.

I hate how religion has become intertwined with politics and am still a hard atheist, but I've also come to realize that religion isn't the problem. It's just a mirror; people who bring hate will find it, but kind people will see and want to further that love of others they have in their own heart-
The degree to which religion is completely disconnected from morality was a surprising thing to learn, but it's held true fairly consistently in my experience.
and I'm not surprised that, when Roy Cooper prayed, he found compassion and the determination to act on it. Prayers or not, he is an amazing human being in both walk and talk and him getting involved in.a higher office where he can continue to make a difference, is a reason for hope and not scorn.
I’ll happily take Roy Cooper over Richard Dawkins. To me, I may not believe in any god, but if you’re a good person who believes differently, who cares?
One hundred percent, that was the comparison that came to mind to me as well. The schism in New Atheism is also the perfect example of hate not just being a religious problem, comparing PZ Myers to Jerry Coyne these days is an example that people find what they bring to really any philosophy.
(To clarify, PZ Myers not being willing to cosign the sexist/racist/islamophobic arc of New Atheism whereas Jerry Coyne used it as an excuse to punch down on more categories of people.)
Lol not worth anyone’s time, they are clearly in their feels about something today.
The replies are off, so I imagine this person is just a GOP plant or a Leftist grifter.
surprise surprise
Beshear is a deacon lol
ew that post is insulting to religious people. I get that atheists and the religious are like fundamentally at odds theoretically but both parties just need to like let it be tbh.
This is one of the rarer cases where an atheist is attacking a religious person unfairly. It’s 95 percent the other way around. I am an atheist. Most of us simply don’t care what other people believe so long as it’s consensual and doesn’t hurt people. Roy Cooper is certainly not the problem.
The response seems to be, "yes, I know and I don't care." The position is absurd
I think the lesson is that unless you’re a young, charismatic, attractive socialist, your comms staff is doing you a disservice by posting campaign material on Bluesky.
This is about Bluesky then
Remember when Ratbag Leftists declared a man a hero for being attractive while murdering a CEO?
It was just the murder part actually
Maybe. One can wonder whether he would still be in so many freaks' profile pics if he was a big uggo.
?
It’s getting really bad. A guy ranted at me the other day when I pointed out that his insistence that the Dems need to keep hammering on Epstein — as counter to a Politico article quoting Tom Suozzi and “anonymous Dem consultants” — meant he was agreeing with Hakeem Jeffries.
Roy Cooper is beloved by lots of folk here in N.C. There's a lot of excitement around his campaign and hope we might actually be able to pull this off. We need help from folks everywhere to make it happen!
some peopel are just very dumb
"I don't care that PCUSA is one of the most progressive churches in the country because I just want to dunk on religion and dunking on religion means trans rights because I said so."
I grew up in a progressive church in fucking Indiana! It's probably in the running for most progressive alongside Cooper's!
They actually helped lead the fight against an anti-LGBT "Religious Freedom" bill and won, and their stance was "If you want to use religion to justify hating trans people, we don't want your support and Jesus wouldn't either."
This is just an omnicause problem again.
This sort of post is the end result of what happens when you spend years getting away with nonsensical takes by dressing them in progressive language
Tumblr and its consequences
Y’all ever feel like there was just an entire swath of multi-generational contrarians created who’d rather be on the narrative bandwagon than be committed to, y’know, awareness and expanding the critical thinking bandwidth?
And because of that, they were psychologically far more susceptible to propaganda, selective exposure, and cognitive bias bubbles that are so insular that one thing wrong that confronts it causes a mass existential crisis?
Btw, this is separate from your friends in their late teens and twenties. That’s not the same thing, learning other people from other places exist is part of that “growing up” and “maturity” stuff people used to tell me about 15 years ago.
Every writing class I ever took in HS and University repeatedly emphasized that any argument was valid as long as it was well crafted. I maintain this did catastrophic damage to the brains of an entire generation.
Now you know why LLMs are the way they are! 🙃
they spent an awful lot of money just to learn how to be esoteric assholes.
As an autistic guy, my favorite way to annoy leftists who piss me off is to get them to advocate for eugenics using progressive language and then point it out.
It is super easy.
