His economic record was great and he cleaned up a lot of messes and if the election was a few months later decent chance the result would be different

I think one big problem of his was that he was stuck. The economy was strong indeed, and his management of inflation was amazing. So was his industrial policies. The problem was wealth redistribution.

People saw a glimpse of what they could have in 2021, real disposable income exploded for 80% of the population. And particularly the lower centil (the lower you went the bigger the impact)

But it was not sustainable under the current political environment. It would have required massive tax increases and wealth redistribution and such to be sustainable and the democratic establishment was just not there. (Most certainly Biden too) And any real increase in wage was simply not enough.

It couldn’t. Not in 4 years, not in 10 either I think. The State would have had to be involved massively and it just couldn’t be under this political climate.

Inflation received the blame from the population because they’re not omniscient. They don’t have the economic knowledge to develop an economic theory of why they feel like they’re suddenly doing worst than the years prior.
