they do realize this is *literally* the talking point JD Vance uses and is quasi-eugenic in its treatment of people who need constant access to healthcare, right

'are trans people bourgeois' was already taken, clearly
big pharma makes vanishingly little from trans people I think? like its all generics
Only expensive one is puberty blockers. Hormones are really cheap.
even the blockers are not that expensive, and they're only being used for a couple years, I think?
Usually only a couple of years but they are 100s to around 2,000 a month which is expensive but not crazy. Hormones are around 10-50 a month.
yeah that's cheaper than GLP-1s
Which are often not covered for exactly that reason
Even though it's dropped a lot since the early '00s (due to health concerns which AFAIK should now be alleviated), something like 5% of menopausal cis women use HRT, and a lot of cis men use testosterone. The trans market probably isn't *nothing* to them but it's definitely not a majority
Big Pharma could make orders of magnitude more money by re-convincing menopausal women that HRT is safe enough to be worth it (since current estradiol formulations are safer than the old conjugated estrogens) than they ever will by selling hormones to trans people
No, no. True leftists transition through sheer force of will and Revolutionary vigor. Marx wrote about it in the bathroom of a Denny’s.
Most of us who live long enough eventually get to the point of lifelong dependence on privatized drugs. Maybe if I hadn't had the cancer and required all the treatment for that, I wouldn't, at 64, need the medicine for osteoporosis. But it's possible that just being a 64-year-old woman would have ..
... gotten me to that point. Certainly it wasn't a lack of exercise or an especially unhealthy diet. As for the notion that a genuine left would demonize being trans, I can't even with that. /end
Sorry, mate the real working class left have spoken and they say growing old is bourgeois decadence.
like, they are trying to use class politics as a bat against trans people but not really in a coherent way
AT least through the late '80s many/most US communist (& also socialist?) groups' position was that being gay was a bourgeois affectation and would not be necessary after the revolution. I couldn't tell you the purported logic behind that, but really, SO MUCH anti-trans is just recycled anti-gay.
"not really in a coherent way" will be written on the tombstone of this administration.
The epitaph of all post-referendum politics.
Yes, it’s deliberate
No they do not, because transphobia is a gateway evil
I’m not sure it deserves the qualification of “quasi.” This is very grim.
Jesus, these fucking people. Absolute ghouls.
