tbh there's a subset of X/Twitter that basically view Bluesky as the last refuge of the woke/Warrenites which is just a very funny mindset to have

Tbh early on this was the bastion of the warrenites who never want to associate with something Musk owns but as Twitter has gotten worse Bluesky has definitely got better
Again, there’s all this debate if Twitter use is ideological permissible that I’m open to but more generally speaking Bluesky is a much better place if you want links to cool pdfs or lolirapist88 not prioritized in someone’s mentions.
Sometimes I stalk twitter through Xcancel because there are *some* accounts I like and yeah probably the worst thing is watching Noah Smith saying a fairly mild centre-right take and a bunch of verified fascists calling him a cuck.
They think we are threads...
I think this makes sense IFF you are Nate Silver or Matt Yglesias. Like that is going to be their personal experience of BlueSky (not necessarily anyone else's though)?
Matt Y just comes here to punch left (his weird imaginary version of a left, that he thinks is whoever works for nonprofits in any capacity), gets full sentence replies from the people here, the blogs about how we’re evil warrenites for not conceding that the path forward is popularism, again.
Yeah, like people consistently threatening to bash your skull in with a claw hammer is likely to color your view of this website
A lot of people thought Trump winning would kill wokeness/progressivism forever which was always insane consider Trump winning the first time supercharged this stuff Feel like this is the source of a lot of derangement towards both Bluesky and Mamdani.
"after Trump, us"
It's a derangement fueled by twitter
i think it is interesting that this view appears to come primarily from people who cannot imagine believing something for non-instrumental reasons
I've just finished Mike Duncan's biography of Lafayette Boggles my mind that so many people seem to apprise to be Talleyrand instead
they are basically saying, “don’t you know that you lost?!? believe something else so that you can win!”
Surely the large number of centrist Republicans currently making up the majority in Congress should be proof that centrism is the key to electoral victory.
wouldn't be surprised if they've been given a deal by musk at this point since it's the same thing every time
This is the ideology of “Eddington” a movie made by people who can’t fathom having legitimate political views.

Tbh this isn’t even Twitter brain as much as its general social media brain. You only ever see a curated reel of the very worst of your enemy designed to maximize your autonomic nervous system response that keeps you on the website looking at ads
100% agree with this, but I do think it's kind of extraordinary that none of these people ever consider the possibility they aren't seeing a representative sample
Tbh my biggest lesson from social media is that smart people do think that they are immune from all sorts of thinking traps
the internet mostly killed any belief i had that something that could responsibly be called "smart people" exists

*laughs nervously*
There's obviously significant individual variation in how cooked people's brains gets on social media. The ones who say things like that are the ones most liable to get cooked.
It’s almost like miserable cruel people feel entitled to behave cruelly free from facing the consequences of their cruelty and make others feel as miserable as they are
I am not beating the allegations here lmao
Yeah, no, they got me dead to rights.
Gender is a factor in this, as the "Warrenite" tag hints My anecdotal observation is that lefty dudes who like to fight stayed on X — because they like to fight. They have other ways to put it: "I'm reaching a wider audience," "Bluesky is weirdly centrist," &c. But it's that they like to fight.
