I'm not sure it's poly so much as a deep cultural aversion to divorce and early marriage being a social norm.

I was just wondering if some of the poly discourses aren't because Bsky is largely in their mid-30s and all of the poly folks our age are currently trying to figure out how to have & raise children and if things wouldn't be easier if they were just swingers instead.

I know boring queer poly people in their 50-60s and it is fascinating to me that they all came up with a configuration that worked for them to support some sort of dependant family member (elderly or disabled relatives, children, etc)

This stuff was always there but frowned upon within the elderly dominated Moral Majority. That’s why the non-religious trad movement we’re dealing with fascinates me. The idea that gamblers are a constituency that the GOP is actively pursuing would make 0 sense 20-30 years ago.
