I tend to disagree. It's not that i believe Babbitt is completely innocent, she isn't, in fact most of are not "innocent" either. I DO think she was someone confused, and susceptible to the MAGA/QAnon/Trumpist siren song & was deluded by it. It's not an excuse, a get out of jail free card. It's the
kind of thing plausible disinformation can do to people. Babbitts service while in the USAF was acceptable enough for her warrant a military funeral, it is her questionable actions as a civilian that we are holding her entire life to. Do we similarly deny basic honors to those who served because
subsequent behavior displeases us? Do we do this without due process or do we do it to simply put another head on a stick? While we can't get the ringleaders of Trumpian insurrection? Will other veterans who similarly particiapted in J6, who align with Trump (like Gen MikeFlynn), be denied
military funerals? At the end of the day, what IS at stake here? What honor do we retrieve here? Is keeping this story alive & forefront doing any of us any good? Give her the damn funeral, maybe less "honors" and NO death payments & put and end to this so the Right is denied a martyr & the rest
of us can keep our attention and efforts working where it really matters. With all due respect, this is and will remain a sideshow until it stops. Let's just put it behind us.
