Excalibur 1981 is phenomenal and IMO the only true Arthurian movie. Mabinogion is obviously the major source of Arthur but if you just want the thomas Mallory then it's a great read. Anything with english conitations should of course be ignored 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I love Malory but I have only read the Keith Baines translation because I don’t speak medieval French and also I am not a masochist. 10/10 highly recommend.

Me, sitting here deciding if I want to make them read Welsh, Middle English, German, barely remembering Malory was originally in French haha

It was originally in French only if you count "the frensshe book" Malory claims to have based it on. Otherwise, Malory was written, by Malory, in Middle English. He was writing every legend he could get his hands on, in his own words. I would suggest the death of Lancelot section as an excerpt.

That MUST BE why it wasn’t filed among the French texts in my head, not just my bad memory, I am SURE

My memory is worse; fite me. In any case, there are good slightly-modernized versions of the ME text of Le Morte d'Arthur; it isn't nearly as hard to read as Chaucer.

I'll second Excalibur, but the scene where Morgana gives birth to Mordred might be too intense for some?
