The thing to remember about Trump is that he set a precedent for Presidents to make something illegal and then arrest people who did that thing BEFORE it was a crime. Preemptive pardons only cover existing crimes that people may be charged for.

I would like to think that whoever comes in after this hell to clean shizz up, will also not be beholden to the things Trump did. "Pardon? What pardon?"
