IMO dark patterns in general should be regulated the same way gambling, alcohol and tobacco is. The whole goal is to get people to do things they wouldn't normally do. Personalization is an addiction tailored just for you.

The thing that made me finally quit Spotify is they kept fucking with my playlists. At first it was adding songs, and then they made a whole other algorithmically generated playlist with the same name as one of my handcrafted playlists, but capitalized so it came first.
