And the shitty thing is, it's so transparent we can tell where voter suppression is happening because we can see excessive provisional ballots and long lines. It's right in front of our face.
Also "every locale handles them differently" makes sound like there's an infinite number of ways to verify a voter's eligibility. It's not like that. Either you come back later with a valid ID, or they check for you and compare the signature on your registration.
Provisional ballots are still recorded and we know how many are cured.
You can get the counts from every county in the country.
I've watched many elections over the years, including the painful hanging chad recounts of 2000.
If anything is tainting elections it's voter suppression and disinformation/misinformation. But the counts are as transparent as an Excel spreadsheet.
I've found that a lot of people just don't think things through to their logical end. Everyone can see the tallies, but for some reason they think something can happen between point A and B. But...then you can just check if something is different.

I grew up in NH where there's a lot of beach erosion, so not much sand. There's a concrete storm surge wall with entrances every few yards with concrete steps. Some parts there would only be sand when it was low tide, otherwise just ocean up to the wall.

What if, and hear me out, we fixed things that don't work instead of just hating things.
The enterprise versions of these tools don't have the creepy sycophantic personalities and I think it's important to point that out because it proves these tools don't have to be manipulative murder bots.
Related products includes Copilot. My point is things can be fixed and they can be regulated. GenAI tools with enterprise versions are MS Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Copilot has the greatest adoption by corporations though since it's part of 365 and has better data loss prevention.

What's wrong with consumer facing tech is they're incentive is engagement. Enterprise applications are measured on how much time they save, not how addicted employees are to them. The incentives are different, so they behave differently.
As an actual user of Enterprise Copilot this is false. It does have guardrails and it doesn't behave the same way as the consumer facing chatbots do. MS Copilot does have more safety features in general than ChatGPT. Microsoft is just more interested in CYA than OpenAI.

The thing that made me finally quit Spotify is they kept fucking with my playlists. At first it was adding songs, and then they made a whole other algorithmically generated playlist with the same name as one of my handcrafted playlists, but capitalized so it came first.
IMO dark patterns in general should be regulated the same way gambling, alcohol and tobacco is. The whole goal is to get people to do things they wouldn't normally do. Personalization is an addiction tailored just for you.
