That's entirely reasonable. Federal agents should've been at least informing local authorities of their activities all along. The local police should NOT have to guess whether someone is a real federal agent or an impersonator, and they definitely shouldn't assume.

In Illinois, all government employees are barred from assisting in Federal law enforcement, unless they are compelled by a Federal Judicial warrant. There’s already been an inquest in Chicago, after CPD responded to an ICE agent issuing an “officer needs assist” through our local dispatch.
