I did the same a few years ago and opted for a diesel. The mileage I was doing I needed to be able to get there with no range anxiety. I was spending £200pm on fuel. I don't spend that anymore as I cycle but we have three cars in our family. I love the idea of an EV.
Range anxiety is something people have when they’ve never driven an EV. Various companies do monthly rentals and that’ll convert folks real quick. Worked on my “EVs wouldn’t work for us” parents. Making kids breath in my NOx gives me far worse anxiety. www.mumsforlungs.org/our-campaign...
