I wasn’t allowed to cut my hair short “Crown of glory” It was to my asscrack During one of my brief forays into public school a girl cut my hair I panicked Not because I had been, technically, assaulted But because I was afraid my mom would be mad about my failure to protect my hair 😹
I’m sorry. Heard 15yrs after I left the HS that the boys had drilled a hole in between the boys & girls bathroom & they used to watch us go to the restroom in between classes. They said they knew I was 1 of the first girls in the class to have pubic hair. So disgusting when I think about this now.
The most absurd part was that all that hair was like catnip to my male peers I remember one wrote me a note about how he always looked for my glossy ponytail bobbing in the hallways
Ugghhh I'm so sorry. So many horrid things to have to worry about, for all the wrong reasons. (I got dumped an entirely different set of hangups, not the religious kind, thank you Assimilating Jews, sigh)
So much of the world is horrid, and my consistent favorite thing about your writing is how you give solid advice on how to cope, navigate, survive, and have a chance to thrive
