I too used to think Texas wasn’t that pretty of a state and then I realized I just hate how we’ve sprawled and paved everything so much the natural environment has been screwed. We don’t need endless forests and mountains everywhere we just need to not ruin what’s around us so frequently.

Way to miss the point. This isn’t politics, it’s about nature vs “progress.”

It’s a sea of rooftops as far as the eye can see. Our plots are 1/8 acre. We might as well all be living in townhomes. I’m used to at least 1/2 acre lots back east without fencing. Concrete highways everywhere in DFW.

You can enjoy a landscape without enjoying the people. I think California is an overpriced elitists’ paradise but there are amazing forests and beautiful coastlines

Agree! Lived in Texas for 50 years. Visited and/or lived in every region. The Hill Country was my favorite but looking down on the Colorado all you can see is home after home surrounding it. Lake Travis were I taught school for 9 years was the same way. Dallas and Houston so much hotter - paved.

I love the Hill Country too, but I agree, too much of the nicest spots are covered up by expensive houses

I lived in Cedar Park and drove by Lake Travis every day to work. I watched the lake dry up. You could walk across it from one side to the other. Then I watched it get so high they had to let water out of the dam. Then drought came and fires sprang up all around.?
